Is clomid usually used during artificial insemination? I have no fertility problems (other than irregular periods). I am single and would like to become pregnant via artificial insemination at my doctors office. Do GYNs generally use clomid to ensure ovulation at a particular time when doing this procedure?

I love Chicago! replied: "i hate when ppl say hubby! 1"

renaissance.soul replied: "Explain to him how you feel. But at the same time, don't be selfish. If it's something he's truly against, don't force him into it. Remember: a marriage goes both ways. If this is something that you cannot agree upon, is it such a good idea to have children?"

lara g replied: "My "Hubby" thought I had to have sex with another guy...make sure he knows that in to how it happens. Ask him why he is against it and make sure you consider his feelings along with him considering yours. p.s. i use the word hubby!"

Did artificial insemination work for you? I am not ovulating and at this stage clomid is not working. The cherry on top is that they have now also diagnosed a problem with my husband. Only 6% of his sperm is normal. My gyne has now recommended we go for artificial insemination. They are going to stimulate my ovaries to produce eggs and then wash my husbands sperm and implant it directly in my cervix. Is there anyone out there that had the same procedure and did it work for you? I am desperate to have it work for us! Baby dust to all of you TTC!!!

dummy81 replied: "You may not like this but 6% normal is not even worth the artificial insemination try. The best hope is IVF but the success rate is only 15% and very expensive. Best wishes for you."

Has anyone ever had to use artificial insemination to get pregnant? I've been on clomid for 5 months now. My Dr. said that since I've not gotten pregnant, I should try insemination this month. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this. Like is it usually successful pretty quick, or is it a long process like every other treatment I've tried?

Has Anyone gone through artificial insemination? Hello, The past couple of days I have felt emotionally, sick, bloated, sore breast. This is my second cycle on clomid 50 mg. Although sucessful on the first cycle .. I didnt ovulate naturally, and therefore I had to be triggered with an injection. I ovulated but didnt fall pregnant. I am now looking at the option of Artifical insimination and wonder if anyone has been through this?

snoopychick78 replied: "Hey I've been through it.. First I tried 2 months on 50 mg.. didn't do much at all.. I went to a reproductive endocrinologist and this is what happened:(it worked first cycle) I call in on day 1 of cycle..blood test on day 3 to see where hormone levels are... on days 3-7 took 50mg clomid in the am and then 50mg clomid in the pm starting on day 10 used answer and Clear-Blue easy ovulation kits. On day day 13 if there was no change went to the Dr they gave me an injection to mature the follicles and did an insemination on that day and the next. Went in 5 days later for a progesterone check.. and the day expected to miss period went in for a blood pregnancy test.. and it was a big fat positive. You may just need a little more aggressive approach with the clomid..and the IUI is good because they wash the sperm and use only the best in the bunch. They also cut out a lot of the swimming by injecting the sperm at the top of the uterus closer to the tubes. Good Luck.. baby dust.. keep me posted.."

MissM replied: "I did 3 rounds of IUI with clomid. It is not bad at all. The clomid is easy to take (as you already know), especially when compared with the injectible meds that are the next step up. I did think clomid made me batty, a really emotional mess, plus I gained a little weight and broke out. The IUI itself is pretty simple. You just take your clomid as usual, then go in for scans to see how your follicles are doing. I think I got my trigger shot on day 12 or so, then went in for the insemination 36 hours later. My husband had to give a "sample" and that was prepared by the lab. Then I went into the office room and the doctor had loaded the sperm into a syringe with a catheter. It only took about a minute to get the cath in (it tickled a little) and the sperm on their way. It was quick and painless for me all 3 times. I did not get PG from any of those cycles, and in fact it took 3 more IVFs to do the job, but many women DO get PG from IUIs. I would say you would have a great chance of it working as anovulation seems to be your issue. I always ovulated but our problem could never be determined). I would definitely recommend a few rounds of IUI, as it will increase your chance of getting PG and make taking that crazy clomid worth it. Good luck!"

Anyone tried artificial insemination? I want to know if anyone has tried artificial insemination. If so, did you have any success and after how long? We have been trying for 1 1/2 years and I can't get pregnant. I am very irregular and have been on progesterone and also on clomid. We just found out my husband has a low sperm count. I am 34 and we really want to have a little girl. Also, please let me know what kinds of costs we are looking at. I have insurance and so does my husband. My doctor believes the only way I will get pregnant is through AI since he has tried everything else. My doctor has referred me to a fertility specialist and my husband is going to be treated as well. Before the AI, my dr. is going to put me on another round of clomid. Please let me know of your experience. Oh by the way, I would be injected with my husband's sperm. We don't mind having a boy, we are just kinda hoping for a girl. My boys really want a sister.

question about artificial insemination? Hi. I have been having Clomid for several months and it does not work so far. So, I am thinking of artificial insemination. 1. I am going to have a period after a week from now if I don't get pregnant this time. Should I call and ask about artificial insemination to my doctor NOW? 2. If I get an appointment with my doctor now, can I try artificial insemination from next ovulation? Or does the doctor examine something before I try artificial insemination so that it takes a while to get ready? 3. How many times should I visit the doctor office for a time? And how many times should I visit LAB? 4. In your case (if you have tried artificial insemination before), how many times did you try & get pregnant? For your information, my age is mid 30s; and my partner is mid 40s. We have one son (3 years old), and it took almost 3+ years to have this boy. (I got pregnant naturally at that time.) Thank you for your help! Thank you for your reply, ljb! "If the Clomid is working in terms of stimulating your ovaries, and you're ovulating but haven't gotten pregnant just by timing sex,..." That's what happen to me. Clomid works for ovulation, but I haven't got pregnant so far. I understand this kind of issue is always complicated & depends on persons. I will check the URL that you taught me; and I should ask about it to my doctor soon. Again, thank you for your help!!!!!

Artificial Insemination? HI. If the clomid doesn't work after this month my doc said that we are going to try artificial insemination. Does anyone know how much this costs?? Sounds expensive.

HooKooDooKu replied: "It's been years, but when we underwent the procedure 7 years ago, the cost was in the ball-park of $350 (insurance didn't cover it). Conceptually, it's really quite simple. On or just before your ovulation day, the husband goes to provide a sperm sample. The sample is 'washed' and a few hours later, the wife goes in. A catheter is inserted into the uterus, and the husbands sperm are injected through the catheter."

Nicole replied: "I'm gonna check back because I'm curious about the cost also!"

Dawn X replied: "The sperm is the expensive part. The sperm that hubby and I are buying for our IUI is $550 per month, plus $80 per month shipping. The actual insemination is around $300 per month. SO the bottom line is about $900 per month. Good luck."

Artificial Insemination & PCOS? I have PCOS. My periods are very rare. To date, I am 6 months late. This is not uncommon. Anyway, My husband and I want very much to have a child. We have been trying for two years. I was prescribed Clomid, however, my period never came, and so, I never took the medicine. Does anyone know of any natural ailments to help? I am so lost at times. I am considering surrogatcy, and artificail insemination. My sister has said she will carry a baby for my husband and I, but I dont even know for sure, if I am not ovulating, that I have eggs for her to surrogate. How much is artificial insemination without insurance. My husband and I have Tri-care, but my would it cover my sister. I know... talk about alot of questions!

estephania2182 replied: "Artificial insemination can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to 2500 dollars depending on what kind of drugs you are taking as well. If you are being given injections then you can look at paying the higher amount but if you take something like clomid to make you ovulate then it would be a lot cheaper. You said that you were given clomid to take but your period never came....ask your doctor about prescribing provera. It will make you have a period. Once your period starts then you could start taking the clomid and then the doctor should monitor you to make sure your eggs are maturing on the clomid and make sure it looks like you are going to ovulate. As far as natural ailments research the herb vitex. It is supposed to regulate periods and works much like clomid does. As far as the surrogacy. I think that would be a lot more expensive even if you had your sister carry your baby.I think I read somewhere that you are required to pay the surrogate something like 50000 dollars. I thought about doing this to with a friend of mine. So I would definitely see about taking provera to bring on a period and start with clomid. Because why spend all that money if you can fix it cheaper?! Good luck to you!!"
